For the fans coming to Rod Brind'Amour arena friday, they may notice a few changes. The big one will be a new scoreboard, meaning the Storm finally tossed the electronic abacus they had been using since entering the league some 13 years ago. They'll also notice Joe and I broadcasting from a different spot, moving from the standing room area to just above the players entrance across from center ice. I've called games from that vantage point once, back in '04 during the Cyclone Taylor Cup, and I liked how much closer we were to the action.

From the captain, Jesse Bachmeier down rookies like Alex Benjestorf; to a man the Storm are using saturday's loss to Courtenay as a motivator against the Westshore Stingers.

Benjestorf says the game showed him the level he needed to compete at.

Games at Bear Mountain arena between these two were for the most part a close affair. The Storm eked out a pair of 2-1 wins, and took the other 8-4.
Historically, the "Brindy" has not been very kind to the Westshore Stingers, regardless of who was wearing Storm colors.
Whether it's playing in front of much bigger crowds then they see at home, or the long bus ride up, the Hive can't seem to get in-sync. All three games were blow-outs in the Storm's favor which then became blow-ups on the Stingers side, complete with fights and game ejections. The Storm won 7-2, 8-1 and 9-2. I found the goal calls from the 9-2 win back on October 2nd, 2009.

You can order tickets for the game online at www.campbellriverstorm.com or by phone at 250-276-1314.

From the transaction side of hockey: Fans of the Pit-bull line from last season will be happy to know that Joey Cormano has a new hockey home. The Storm traded his rights to the Grand Forks Border Bruins of the KIJHL.
